Maya Blu (Michelle Escoffery)

Maya Blu (Michelle Escoffery) at Shoreditch Town Hall – Friday 6th November 2015

Finally got to see this lovely down to earth artist in person, at the most random and spontaneous gig I’ve been to in a long time.

Set in the beautiful Shoreditch Town Hall in an intimate gig with an audience of no more than 100, it felt quite special to have the privilege to be one of the few to witness this great performance.

Having missed a few opportunities to see Michelle Escoffery live (Southport Weekender, Jazz Cafe, etc) kicking myself many times in the past, this time round I jumped at the chance without even thinking about it… Thanks Marsha :-).

I certainly needed to get out of the house after the week I’d had (that’s another story in itself), so I was glad for the distraction from my weeks despair.

Michelle Escoffery has been on the music scene for years, my first introduction to her being her collaboration with Artful Dodger back in 2001 – Think about me feat Michelle Escoffery. She also written and produced music for some heavy weights including Tina Turner, Rod Stewart and Beverley Knight.

She certainly lived up to my expectations, taking us down memory lane with Think about me, and giving us a taste of her new music under to new name Maya Blu with the sweet rendition of tunes such as High Heels and Slow Dance.

So glad I made the time to attend 🙂
